The initial production period of the legendary Ford Falcon produced by Ford Motor Company was between 1960s and 1970s. On start of sales the car got popularity among buyers, dexterously bypassing similar competitors from Chrysler and General Motors. During its production, Falcon was offered in a wide range of body styles: two-door and four-door sedan, three-door and five-door station wagons, two-door hardtop, convertible and even the pickup Ranchero. Within a few years, this name was also used for passenger versions of the van Ford Econoline.

Ford Falcon was one of the most unpretentious models of Ford, but at the same time the most utilitarian. The car had a fairly simple external body, flat side and a small curvature of the windscreen (in the face of fashion of the huge panoramic glass), a simple interior trim with a straight panel of devices with a visor and a stylish belt speedometer, minimum of external ornaments - to simplify and reduce the cost of production, as it was necessary to compete with European manufacturers.

In summer of 2000, the Falcon family of new generation AU was modernized. The updated series received index AU II. The Australian branch of the company is engaged in release of these cars. The AU II series is presented with bodies of a sedan, station wagon and the "sports and utilitarian" pickup Ute. All of them differ on a complete set, the external design and equipment of salon. Front radiator grilles, front and rear bumpers got considerable changes. Interior of the cabin are made in the style of "new edge".

Starting from 2005, Ford Falcon was offered in eight different modifications - Falcon XT (sedan and wagon), XR6, XR8, Futura (sedan and wagon), Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia. Scale of engines for 2005: base engine 4.0 liters R6 24V (248 hp, 380 Nm), turbocharged version of this engine (326 hp and 450 Nm) and the head of line of engines was V8 Boss of 5.4 liters (354 hp, 500 Nm), mounted on the model Falcon XR8. For the base complete set of Ford Falcon XT includes ABS, front and side mirrors, central locking with remote control, and for an additional fee - a navigation system with DVD. The more expensive versions are equipped with full power, traction control system, and for the Fairmont Ghia - leather and wood interior trim.
