2013 Audi RS6

Sporty and practical are the apropos terms best applied to the 2013 Audi RS6. The 2013 models are up to the level of quality that has become associated with the German auto maker. The RS6 is made to deliver a product that gives the feel and agility of a sports car with the practicality and space of a coupe/sedan. For 2013, Audi is equipping the RS6 with its 4.0-liter V8 engine that gives the auto up to 580 hp, slightly more than the similar BMW X5.

Interior/Exterior
As is customary to Audi, consumers have the option to customize several different interior upholstery and dash combinations along with a variety of exterior auto colors. For 2013, Audi has added a more aggressive fascia and smoothed out the curve and flare to the headlights and grill, giving the RS6 a sportier look. Inside, a wood and chrome dash highlights the choice of leather color on the seats, arm rests and center console.

Electronics
The 2013 RS6 models continue the trend of smartphone and iPad/iPhone/Smartphone integration. Sync smartphones to the RS6 via Bluetooth technology and make and accept calls via the steering wheel controls for hands-free calls. Music lovers may now upload their entire music collection directly into the flash technology hard drive that is hard-linked into the touch-screen radio and navigation panel. For maps and driving directions Audi is pleased to announce a direct sync to Google Maps so as to provide current and up-to-the-minute driving directions throughout North America.

Engine
As mentioned, Audi is equipping the RS6 2013 series with the high-performing 4.0-liter V8 engine. Expect times of zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds, the 1/4-mile in 14.2 seconds and a maximum output of 580 hp. Audi installs a speed governor so the top speed of the RS6 is limited to 155 mph, a safety standard as directed by the NSTA. Mileage tests out at 17/27 for city/highway driving.

Steering and Transmission
Instead of staying pat with the Audi hydraulic system, the auto maker listened to the input of its loyal customers and upgraded the steering to a high-tech electronic system. The steering "static" option is actuated with a button and when on helps to prevent the vehicle swerving between lanes or off the road. This is accomplished via a set of sensors and cameras and a form of "auto pilot" for the car. If drivers do not wish to use it, pressing the button back to "off" can deactivate it. The RS6 series is available in a 6-speed manual overdrive or a 7-speed intuitive-automatic.

Performance
The RS6 excels at cornering and has the intuitive drive mechanisms to handle snow, ice, sand and inclement road conditions. Drivers should expect a slightly softer version of a sports car in the response of the RS6 series in corners and curves. Braking is extremely responsive and gripping is a thing of the past. This is the vehicle that lets you cruise with pep while also keeping the family safe in the spacious interior.
